The more specific you can be, the more useful the first reply is. None of it has to be exact.
What your customers ask most often, where those answers live today, and who is allowed to see what.
What somebody does by hand, how often, and roughly how long it takes them.
Which numbers matter, where they come from, and who needs to see them.
What it used to do, where its results were supposed to arrive, roughly when it stopped, and any error you have. It is worth saying explicitly if there is no error — that narrows things down more than people expect.
You will get an honest read back: whether it is a small job, a real project, or something not worth automating at all — before you commit to anything.
